MODEL FAQ
#1 HOW DO I APPLY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE 2023 GREENVILLE FASHION WEEK® (GFW) MODEL AUDITION?
There are three easy steps to apply. Complete the nonrefundable online application. Upload headshot and full body image within application.
Pay the $35 nonrefundable application processing fee.
*Please note that your application will not be reviewed until the online payment is completed.
#2 WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING MODEL APPLICATIONS?
Entries must be received no later than 8 p.m. (EST) on December 22, 2022 in order to secure an audition time. Auditions will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2023 and Sunday, January 8, 2023– call time to be determined by GFW.
#3 WHAT IF I MISS THE DEADLINE TO APPLY? AM I STILL ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND AUDITIONS?
To secure an audition, models MUST submit an online application by the deadline outlined above. Video submissions will NOT be accepted. Models must meet the age requirement (15+) and height requirements for Designer shows. There is no height or size requirement for boutique shows. (see #4 for details), pay a $35 application-processing fee, and complete the official GFW Model Application, including model measurements.
#4 WHAT REQUIREMENTS MUST A MODEL POSSESS TO BE CONSIDERED?
Female models must be 15 years of age or older. There is no size or height requirement for our boutique shows. However, there is a size and height requirement for designer shows. Females must meet the requirement of 5’6” tall* without shoes. No braces or visible tattoos.
*All tattoos MUST be covered at all times. Please note that you are responsible for covering all tattoos for any GFW events yourself.
Male models must be 15 years of age or older and meet the minimum height requirement of 5’10” tall* without shoes. No braces or visible tattoos. There is no male height requirement for our boutique show.
Eligible applicants who are under 18 years old must have parent or legal guardian’s permission to apply, and must be at the audition to sign a waiver or model will not be permitted to audition.
NOTE: *Height will be checked at registration. The application fee is nonrefundable.
#5 HOW DO I PREPARE FOR AUDITIONS?
All models are required to bring a 5×7 color headshot and 5×7 full body shot to the auditions along with a 5×7 swimsuit photo should you elect to audition for swim.Practice your walk, poses, and presentation!
#6 IF I AM SELECTED FOR AN AUDITION, WHEN/HOW WILL I BE NOTIFIED?
All applicants will be notified via email if selected to attend auditions once applications have closed within one week of auditions. The email confirmation will include: date, time, location and assigned time to register. Audition times are at the sole discretion of Greenville Fashion Week. Times could vary based on number of applicants.
*All GFW correspondence is done via e-mail. Be sure the email address on your application is correct otherwise you will NOT receive information from GFW.
#7 IF SELECTED AS A GFW MODEL, WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?
All models are required to attend the Model Training Workshop – Sunday, March 26, 2023. Attendance to all fittings, rehearsals, designer and boutique go-sees, as well as week of the event if selected for a photo-shoot, special event, or runway show, are required.
The week of Greenville Fashion Week, April 19 – 23, 2023, models are required to be available for the following:
Rehearsals – Thursday afternoon/early evening, April 20, 2023
Runway shows, April 21 & 22, 2023 – as early as 3:00 p.m. to as late as 11:00 p.m
#8 WHERE WILL THE GFW MODEL TRAINING DAY, FITTINGS AND REHEARSALS BE HELD? WHAT DATES AND WHAT TIMES?
All events will take place in Greenville, South Carolina. Exact location and time will be sent to models via e-mail at a later date. Time-blocks are assigned by and at the sole discretion of GFW. Mark your calendar NOW for the following:
Model Training Day: Sunday, March 26, 2023
Fittings – TBD between April 10-21, 2023
Rehearsal: Thursday, April 20, 2023
Runway Shows: April 21 & 22, 2023
#9 WHAT IS THE MODEL SELECTION PROCESS?
Models are presented to Emerging Designers and Featured Designers, boutiques, and sponsors for initial selection. Final selections are at the sole discretion of GFW and based on production and overall event need. Here are more details for each:
If selected, models are required to attend fitting(s) for featured designers, boutiques or sponsors. Day/time is at the sole discretion of GFW. Models cast for more than one show and/or event are required to attend each go-see and/or fitting. Final fittings will take place as needed and are managed by GFW pending the overall production/event schedule.
TIP: Mark your calendar in advance with the dates above (#8) to ensure you are available. GFW, designers, boutiques and/or sponsors will NOT work around your schedule.
#10 HOW ARE TOP MODELS SELECTED TO COMPETE IN ROCK THAT RUNWAY MODEL COMPETITION FOR 2023 GFW MODEL OF THE YEAR?
Selection for Rock THAT Runway Model Competition is based on industry criteria by a model panel of experts. Models must be 5'7" or taller between the ages of 15 and 26. Twelve Top Models will be selected to compete for the coveted title of 2023 GFW Top Model.
#11 WHAT DOES THE 2023 GFW TOP MODEL RECEIVE?
The Winner will be selected by a panel of expert judges after competing on the runway Friday, April 15, 2022 and announced at Saturday’s show on April 16, 2022.
Prize package includes:
Photo-shoots with GFW Photographers to build portfolio
Mentoring opportunity with industry leader
Will be the official GFW Brand Ambassador for 2022
Gift Basket
Assistance signing with a major agency
NOTE: *Additional prizes may be announced at a later date.
#12 ARE MODELS WHO ARE SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN GREENVILLE FASHION WEEK COMPENSATED?
Models will attend a training workshop with industry professionals. Models will also be recognized in the 2023 Greenville Fashion Week program book and given access to online photo gallery from event for portfolio- no other compensation.
#13 ARE THERE ANY FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS TO PARTICIPATE AS A MODEL?
GFW requires a processing fee of $35 to apply. All models are also responsible for any and all costs associated with auditions, rehearsals, go-sees or fittings, and the week of the event including all transportation to/from Greenville, meals, lodging, and parking fees.
#14 IF SELECTED FOR A SPECIAL EVENT, PHOTOSHOOT, OR RUNWAY SHOW, WILL TRAVEL TO/FROM GREENVILLE AND ACCOMMODATIONS BE COVERED?
All models are responsible for travel to/from Greenville and lodging the week of GFW. Visit the GFW website for hotel partners and our host hotel, who may offer a preferred rate.
#15 WILL I RECEIVE A TICKET TO THE EVENT AS A GFW MODEL?
Models do not receive a ticket to GFW.
#16 ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL INCENTIVES FOR BEING A MODEL AT GREENVILLE FASHION WEEK?
All models selected to participate in Greenville Fashion Week 2023 runway shows, special event, or photo-shoot will receive the following: Visibility to local and national fashion industry leaders, stylists and media along with recognition in the 2023 Greenville Fashion Week Program.
